Les Bols de Jean

Hello there,

This weekend I have tested a new  restaurant called LES BOLS DE JEAN. It is opened by a famous chief called JEAN IMBERT (who won a french cooking contest called “TOP CHEF” in 2012) and a famous baker called Eric Kayser.


If you are in Paris for holiday, or live in Paris and looking for an original frenchy restaurant then you need to test this new concept! The food is served in a bowl made of bread and you basically eat in the bowl and finally eat the bowl itself :). You have a variety of choices, and I tried the Christmas Bowl. It was just delicious !


The prices are reasonable, it goes from 7€ to 15€ (only the bowl).It is a good alternative to a burger or a sandwich. I will for sure go back to test another bowl :).

Pasteis De Nata recipe

This weekend I invited my brother and his wife over for some dinner and I wanted to treat them with some homemade desert. I didn’t have time to make anything too complicated so I went for PASTEIS DE NATA. It is quick and easy to make 🙂

Ingredients for 12 yummy egg tarts


  • 0,5 l of Milk
  • 250g of sugar
  • 35g of flour
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 vanilla pod
  • Some lemon juice
  • 1 puff Pastry

 A few steps to follow 

  1. Cook the milk in a saucepan with the vanilla pod split into 2


  1. Mix in a bowl the flour, sugar and salt
  2. When the milk comes to a boil remove it from the heat and remove the vanilla pod
  3. Mix the preparation with the flour, sugar and salt 
  4. Add 3 eggs yolk and 1 whole egg into the mixture
  5. Then add 3 tablespoon of lemon juice. Mix everythingIMG_20150905_192900
  6. Roll out the puff pastry into the mold then add the mixture.


7. Bake at 200°c for about 20 minutes

Korean fried chicken recipe- 양념통닭-Yangnyeom Tongdak

Do you know Yangnyeom Tongdak? 

It is a famous Korean fried chicken seasoned with a sweet and spicy sauce. It is often eaten as a fast food or as an appetizer with Soju and pickled radishes.

With a friend we have found a really simple recipe on the internet, and we tried it out 🙂

The ingredients we used ( 3-4 people)
  • 1.5 Kg of chicken chunks
  • salt
  • ground black pepper
  • flour
  • egg
  • oil
  • garlic
  • ketchup
  • baking soda
  • hot pepper paste
  • rice syrup
  • apple vinegar
  • potato starch powder
  • Sweet rice flour

In pink are the ingredients we especially went to a Korean store to buy. But you may also find those in some basic Chinese stores. Below is a pictures of how those products look like :


In paris there are many Korean stores, we went to the one situated in the Pyramide station called Kmart. Here is the address : 8 Rue Sainte-Anne, 75001 Paris

Below are the instruction we followed :

  1. Flavor the chicken : Add one teaspoon of black pepper and salt

SONY DSC2. Add ½ cup potato starch powder, ¼ cup of flour, ¼ cup sweet rice flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1 egg onto the chicken

3.Mix everything


3. Fry the chicken for about 10 minutes over high heat. For a more crispy effect, you may want to fry your chicken twice.


4. Preparing the sauce : put some oil and 4 cloves of minced garlic onto a heated pan. Then Add ⅓ cup tomato ketchup, ⅓ cup rice syrup, ¼ cup hot pepper paste, 1 spoon of apple vinegar and mix everything for about 7 minutes. Keep the heat low to be be sure not to burn the sauce. ( you can prepare the sauce while frying the chicken)

5. Put the  fried chicken into the sauce and gently mix it up.

6. Optional : you can add some roasted sesame seeds for decoration

Speculoos & Nutella Tiramisu recipe

Add a little sweetness into yoUR life =)


I have tried an amazing and easy way to make Tiramisu that I want to share with you today. I am far away from an amazing cook so easy recipe are the best for me.

Below the recipe I have followed :

Preparation time : 25 minutes

Ingredients for 4 people:

– 250 g of mascarpone
– 200 g of Nutella ( Yes I know…. but it is worth it)
– 150 g of speculoos
– 30 g of sugar
– 2 eggs
– 10 cl of milk
– 1 spoon of liquide vanilla (I personally used 1 sachet of vanilla sugar)
– 2 tablespoon of chocolate powder (this is optional)

Preparation of the recipe:

  • Take the eggs and separate the yolk from the white
  • Beat the yolks with vanilla sugar and mascarpone until the mixture is smooth and silky
  • Whisk the egg white with a pinch of salt
  • Incorporate the egg whites into the mascarpone mixture and mix gently to avoid breaking the egg whites
  • Melt the Nutella with the milk in the microwave
  • Break the biscuits into pieces and place them at the bottom of each glass ( I have personally used the bottom of a glass to break the biscuits)
  • Cover the biscuits with the melted Nutella  and add the mascarpone mousse on top.
  • Cover the top of your Tiramisu with some pieces of biscuits  and some chocolate powder
  • Place the glass into the fridge for at least 4 hours but the best would be a whole night long for the Tiramisu foam to take.

I had my boyfriend to try it and he loved it. But one recommendation is to choose a smaller glass  otherwise you will feel very…very full after finishing it all.

HK Desert in Paris

Hello Guys,

Lately I discovered a lovely desert place in PARIS called GUIMIHOUSE. They mainly serve Hong-Kong desert. If you like fruity fresh desert then this place is a must go for you. This is definitely the little thing that made my day today. Hope it will make yours too =)


I have picked the MANGO SAIGO and the MANGO CAKE with of course a bubble tea. The Mango Saigo is delicious and the Mango Cake too but I personally preferred the Mango Saigo. And I was a little disappointed about the Bubble tea. I was hopping to drink an authentic HK bubble tea, but the taste wasn’t there.I will definitely go back to try out some other deserts.

My Love for Bubble Teas <3

Hello Guys,

I wanted to share with you a drink that makes my day every time time I drink it. You might have heard of BUBBLE TEAS. We find more and more bubble teas house around PARIS. The first one that I discovered was in metro station PYRAMIDE, it is called ZEN ZOO.  For those who have never tried, most bubble tea recipes is a tea base mixed with fruit or milk, to which chewy tapioca balls and/or fruit jellies are often added. You can find many different flavors but the original one is milk tea and they come from TAIWAN.
Five years ago I had the chance to do my exchange program in Taiwan and there I discovered the best bubble tea ever ! There are Bubble tea shops everywhere and they cost nothing, even cheaper than a coke !
409613_10151877623940104_1701676744_nWhen I came back to France, I have tested many other Bubble tea house in Paris, but none of them reached the level of those ones in TAIWAN…. until I discovered CHATIME in LONDON!
It was such a pity that we only stayed there for the weekend.

So to give it a go I have tested to make bubble teas myself

It didn’t taste bad… but I wasnt quite there yet.

The good news came a few months ago, where I saw a picture from a friend on instagram showing a CHATIME bubble tea in PARIS !!
My favorite one is MANGO QQ it is legendary. A Must Try!
